2020 PARK 16 Reviews:

16X is a great value bike with hand brakes, especially vs. most other 16" models. Our daughter loves it. Two major issues with it. 1) Assembly. Is the idea you're supposed to take the box straight to a local bike shop for assembly? I am an amateur bike mechanic who races road and mountain, so I have a good bit of knowledge. I set it up myself, but this bike was NOT ready to go out of the box. Brakes were not adjusted properly, some fasteners were not torqued, etc. There were no instructions in the box. Someone will less experience would really need to take this to a shop. 2) Brakes and hubs on the 16X. I think the hubs or dropouts aren't perfectly square, or the hub:brake interface isn't quite true, but the brake rotors have needed significant truing and still have some drag. I may need to add a spacer onto the axle as well. Getting the combination of a) no/little brake drag, and b) enough lever throw to stop the bike, has been a knife-edge process. All in all this is a great bike! But setup by a consumer would be a major issue, particularly around the disc brakes.

These bikes are excellent. We got two of them last summer for our then 5.5 year old twin boys. They’re still on them this summer and they’ve held up exceptionally well. The build quality and components are unparalleled at this price point and ordering directly from Park was simple and straightforward. If they had a 20 inch model I’d be eyeing that up for when they’ve outgrown these. Highly recommended.

We got a bike for our daughter and it's amazing. Design and look is awesome. Our daughter loves it and it's the bike she learned to ride without training wheels. Thanks for the bike!!
